Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026

Quokka is a Sydney public transport departures app. This page sets out what data is collected when you use it, and what isn't.

Who operates Quokka

Quokka is operated by Daopathos, based in New South Wales, Australia. For any privacy question or request, email quokka@daopathos.com.au.

Data collected by the app

There's no account system and no sign-in. Quokka never asks for your name, your email, or any other personal detail to work.

Saved stops

The stops and routes you save are stored locally on your device using standard app storage. They're never sent to Quokka's backend or to a third party. Clear the app's storage or uninstall the app and they're gone.

Quokka's backend does receive ordinary technical request data, such as which stop or route you're looking at, purely so it can return the right timetable and live departures. That's the same as any request to any website or app server. It isn't tied to an identity and isn't used for anything beyond answering the request.

Location

Quokka does not request or collect your device's location.

The app holds no location permission on Android, includes no location software component, and has no code path that reads device position. Finding a stop or route is done by manual search, or by picking from the stops you've saved.

Google's ad systems may estimate your general area from your IP address. That's why Google Play's Data safety section lists approximate location for Quokka. It comes from advertising, not from the app reading your device's position.

Advertising

Quokka shows ads through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Per Google's disclosure for apps using this SDK, it can collect and share the following to serve ads, measure how they perform, and prevent fraud:

  • IP address
  • Advertising ID and other device identifiers
  • App interactions, such as ad views and clicks
  • Diagnostic and device information

Google handles this data, not Daopathos. You can read Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy, and more detail on how data is used across partner sites and apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your controls

On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalised ads from Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Google Settings → Ads, depending on your Android version). That applies across every app that uses advertising IDs, not just Quokka.

Data retention and deletion

Because Quokka doesn't hold personal data on its own servers, there's generally nothing server-side to delete. If you'd like that confirmed, or have another privacy request, email quokka@daopathos.com.au.

Saved stops can be removed at any time by clearing them in the app or uninstalling it. For advertising data held by Google, reset your advertising ID or revoke ad personalisation consent in your device settings, as described above.

Security

All traffic between the app and Quokka's backend runs over HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections.

Children's privacy

Quokka is a general-audience transport timetable app and isn't directed at children. It doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
